( Intro )
Airport Futures: From Function to Feeling is the first in a series of reports looking at how airports might evolve in response to shifting traveller expectations. Rather than treating the airport as a purely functional space, the publication explores how it could become more inclusive, more sensorial, and more attentive to wellbeing, connection, and new forms of interaction.

( Process )
I developed the visual direction together with our creative strategist and designed a layout system for the report across both digital and print formats. The process began with a series of layout explorations built to handle different kinds of content, rhythms, and chapter structures, creating a flexible framework that could remain consistent across the publication while adapting to the needs of the material.

We also explored several graphic directions and ultimately chose gradients and blurring effects to better align the visual language with the report’s overarching theme. Besides making data-driven content easier to absorb, these elements helped shift the publication away from the look of a conventional white paper and towards something more atmospheric and design-conscious.

The digital version was designed first, with its structure later translated into print. While both formats share the same visual language, each was adjusted to suit its medium: the digital edition uses a progress bar to mark the reader’s position within the report, while the printed version relies on a simpler footer system without a navigational function.

( Result )
The final outcome is a 76-page publication accompanied by a digital presentation version, bringing together research, strategy, and editorial design in a format intended to make future-facing ideas feel clear, engaging, and tangible.
